Sycosaurus
Sycosaurus est un genre éteint de gorgonopsiens appartenant à la sous-famille des Rubidgeinae ayant vécu en Afrique au Permien supérieur, au Wuchiapingien il y a environ entre 259 à 254 millions d'années. Ces fossiles ont été découverts en Tanzanie et en Afrique du Sud.
Description
Crâne holotype de S. nowaki. La barre horizontale noire mesure 10 cm.
C'était un animal mesurant environ 1,2 mètre de long[1]. Il a été nommé pour la première fois par Haughton en 1924 et contient deux espèces, S. laticeps et S. nowaki[2].
